Sunday 28th October
Coming up this autumn, multi-talented Canadian bluegrass band The Slocan Ramblers make their Sheffield debut! Hailing from Toronto, this dynamic young band combines impressive bluegrass and old-time musicianship with a fresh approach and modern appeal. Following a warmly received first UK & Ireland tour in autumn 2017, the band is looking forward to returning to the UK later this year. The Slocan Ramblers have become a leading light of Canada’s roots music scene in the last few years, building on their reputation for energetic live shows, impeccable musicianship and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan. The quartet has steadily added to their list of awards and plaudits on home ground and on the USA scene, and now the UK is starting to catch on! The Slocan Ramblers were recently featured in FRoots magazine, and made many new fans on their 2017 tour.
On their latest album, Coffee Creek (2015) the foursome blends lightning fast, devilishly intricate instrumentals with evocative vocals, on songs and tunes ranging from fine originals to rowdy old-time numbers. Their third album, Queen City Jubilee, will be released this June. True North Music is delighted to be bringing The Slocan Ramblers back to the UK for an extensive autumn tour, including this gig which we’ll be hosting in Sheffield.
