The Carlile Institute
Marrying the sunshine harmonies of Southern California with the industrial allure of their home in the North East of England, The Often Herd is a hugely entertaining contemporary bluegrass/Americana band. Their outstanding musicianship and charismatic stage presence have taken them to the top of the British bluegrass scene. We’ve known Evan, Rupert, Sam and Niles for quite a few years and we were big fans of their previous band The Kentucky Cowtippers.
Now this super talented foursome has a new project, and in only their first year as The Often Herd, the band has recorded and released a highly praised debut EP, as well as winning the prestigious band contest at La Roche Bluegrass Festival in the French Alps. With catchy original songs and traditional tunes, these three young Geordies (on mandolin, guitar and double bass) and their American fiddler are on the up!
“A study in virtuosity from a supremely talented group of musicians.” – NARC Magazine
