**Fourth of July Special**
The Greystones, Sheffield
Man About A Horse is an entertaining American quintet from Philadelphia, blending traditional bluegrass and contemporary Americana. With banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, double bass and sparkling harmony vocals, this award-winning band mixes dynamic performances with outstanding musicianship. Formed in 2014, the band has released two studio recordings to date, their 2015 EP and their self-titled debut album in 2017 which earned widespread praise.
“High energy is an understatement …it’s hard to describe, other than to say it’s good music. The group throws together elements of bluegrass, folk, and a progressive mean streak that distinguishes their sound as original ” – Bluegrass Unlimited
2018 was a breakout year for Man About a Horse, including multiple tours across the USA and various awards coming their way. They won the Band contest at Freshgrass festival, were named 2018 Emerging Artist at Grey Fox Bluegrass festival and were nominated for a Band Momentum Award by the International Bluegrass Music Association. We encountered MAAH when we were invited over to the IBMA conference and festival in North Carolina, and were blown away by their sizzling live performances and fine songwriting. True North Music is booking the band’s entire tour and we just had to grab them for our own gig at The Greystones! What better date for a bluegrass and Americana party than the Fourth of July? Come out and join us – this barnstorming live band will get your feet tapping and leave you with a smile on your face! We’re also delighted to have added talented acoustic blueswoman Mary-Elaine Jenkins to open the show.
Doors 7.30pm, concert from 8pm. Advance tickets £14.
