Saturday 25th August
The Carlile Institute
Looking ahead to August, we’re delighted to welcome The Corn Potato String Band to The Carlile Institute in Meltham. I first hosted this band on their last UK tour in summer 2016, and their concert at Sheffield Greystones very nearly brought the house down! This fabulous and fun trio has delighted audiences across North America, Europe and beyond with their driving fiddle tunes and harmonious singing. They are all multi-instrumentalists dedicated to continuing the music and dance traditions of the Central and Southern USA. In addition to being champion fiddlers, they also play banjo and guitar, and there may be a bit of step dancing too.
This will be a lively night of foot-stomping, old-time Appalachian style merriment – put it in your diary now! The Carlile Institute is a beautiful historic building in the centre of Meltham village, close to Huddersfield and Holmfirth. The first floor Jubilee Room is an ideal setting for intimate concerts. There is a lift for accessibility, a free car park directly behind the building and a bus stop right outside.
Advance tickets £12 at wegottickets.com (note 10% booking fee online). Paper tickets will also be available locally in Meltham.
