I’ve been remiss in updating my news feed here, as there has been so much great music-related activity happening. Our 2019 gig programme got off to a flying start with a sold out gig at Meltham on 2nd Feb featuring exquisite Americana/ folk duo The Honey Dewdrops. I have also been busy working on their debut UK tour, which has just come to an end, including their Celtic Connections festival debut. We really enjoyed hosting Laura and Kagey who are both outstanding musicians, singers and songwriters, and we’re already looking forward to their return in 2020.
I’ve also booked the full tour for entertaining young Boston bluegrass band Mile Twelve. They will also be performing for our next Yorkshire concert (Sheffield, 16th March). Also announced recently, gigs with ace British bluegrass quartet The Often Herd (Meltham, 6th April), exceptional Canadian roots duo Pharis & Jason Romero (Sheffield, 27th April) and special super-duo Ron Block & Tony Furtado (Sheffield, 6th May). We’ll have an update soon on more upcoming gigs at Meltham too! You can find full details and ticket links for all our upcoming Yorkshire concerts at this page.
I have more exciting news, as my application to attend the prestigious Leadership Bluegrass programme was accepted just before Christmas. Run by the International Bluegrass Music Association in Nashville in early March, to quote the IBMA, “Leadership Bluegrass is a music industry leadership program designed to build commitment, motivate talents and instil enthusiasm for addressing the future challenges and opportunities of bluegrass music.” This will be an outstanding opportunity for me to meet, work with and learn from a range of influential music professionals – from musicians to managers and agents, record company representatives to academics. This opportunity should help me bring more of the brightest bluegrass and Americana talent to the UK in the future.
Thanks to all our ticket buyers, friends and helpers for your ongoing support! Please keep on supporting grassroots live music in 2019 – we can’t do it without you!
