Danny Barnes is one of the most influential banjo players working in the USA today and holds a special place in the hearts of many stellar young bluegrass artists. In 2015 Danny was awarded the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass, in recognition of his history as one of the genreā€™s most distinctive and innovative performers. The Danny Barnes Trio includes two other phenomenal American roots music talents: Grant Gordy is a hugely respected virtuoso guitarist who can range across bluegrass and jazz with ease and style, and Joe K Walsh (not to be confused with the other Joe Walsh!) is a top notch mandolinist, singer and songwriter.

Danny Barnes lo resTexas-born Danny Barnes is a banjo virtuoso, singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He draws on influences including country, jazz, punk, blues and more, and was a founding member of legendary Austin-based trio The Bad Livers. Since then, Danny has performed and recorded as a solo artist in addition to frequent collaborations with acclaimed musicians including Bill Frisell, Robert Earl Keen, Darol Anger and countless others. His most recent release, Stove Up, is a loving tribute to banjo great Don Stover and features numerous bluegrass classics as well as a handful of originals.

Grant GordyGuitar ace Grant Gordy is an increasingly acclaimed talent on the American acoustic scene and held the guitar spot in the legendary David Grisman Quintet for six years. New York-based Grant has performed with musical luminaries including Edgar Meyer, Steve Martin and Tony Trischka, and is in a duo with guitarist Ross Martin, a member of acoustic supergroup Mr Sun (also featuring legendary fiddler Darol Anger), and somehow finds time for his own band too, featuring the prodigious talents of Alex Hargreaves and Dominick Leslie.

Joe K WalshJoe K Walsh is recognised as a brilliant talent on the mandolin and has performed and toured with numerous master musicians including Brittany Haas, Bruce Molsky and Scott Nygaard, as well as a stint with popular bluegrassers the Gibson Brothers. Also an accomplished singer and songwriter, Joe currently keeps busy with projects including Mr Sun (alongside Grant Gordy) and The Peregrines (featuring UK bass ace Ben Somers). Joe is known for his exemplary tone, taste and technique and in addition to his busy performance schedule, he teaches mandolin at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
