Bringing you world class live music, featuring the very best in Americana, bluegrass, folk and roots

I’ve been active in the bluegrass and folk music community for many years now – singing and playing, and listening to some great musicians and bands. I also write occasional roots music reviews, articles and interviews. I decided to start putting on gigs so that I could bring some of my favourite artists to Yorkshire and enjoy their music on my own doorstep. Since the start of 2015 I’ve promoted a growing list of successful live music events (check out our concert archive). In October 2017 I was delighted to win the Outstanding Promoter Award at the Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards. Since early 2016, I’ve also been working as a UK booking agent for a number of high calibre American and Canadian artists, including The Railsplitters, Compton & Newberry, The Slocan Ramblers, Mile Twelve and Evie Ladin & Keith Terry.

In September 2018 I had the privilege of being invited to the USA by South Arts, as part of the PADAS (Performing Arts Discovery: American Sounds) group of international presenters and bookers. I returned to the UK having seen many outstanding artists that I hope to work with in the future. I was subsequently accepted on to the International Bluegrass Music Association’s prestigious Leadership Bluegrass course in Nashville in March 2019. This was a fantastic experience and has really connected True North Music into the heart of the American bluegrass and roots music business. In 2019 I also returned to the IBMA conference in North Carolina in September, and was invited over to Canada’s Showcase PEI event in October. We were also voted into the finals of the Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards again in 2019, and our first Americana and Bluegrass one-day festival is coming up on 30th May 2020! Check out our listings for more top notch music coming your way in the coming months.

I love this music and have spent years listening, playing, learning and writing about it, and supporting it as a fan and participant. The relationships I’ve built along the way are now helping True North Music bring the very finest in American roots music to venues and festivals across the UK. Check out our upcoming events here, and don’t forget to like True North Music on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. I hope to see you at one of the shows!
